YORK-The opening of Beale’s brewery and taproom in York County has been delayed for a few years due to engineering and architectural challenges. Located at 7120 George Washington Memorial Highway, the 5,500 square-foot brewery is situated next to Freedom Office Park and across from Ocean Breeze Dance Studios.
The establishment was originally slated to open over two years ago, but construction was delayed due to supply-chain issues as well as increased costs of supplies as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.
There’s a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Dave McCormack, owner of Beale’s, said he hopes the new location will be open for business within the next few months.
“We are shooting for sometime this summer, but don’t have a specific date yet,” said McCormack. “We are close though.”
The owner said the construction phase is edging close to completion.
“We’re pretty much winding down on the construction, so we’re nearing the end,” said McCormack. “Currently, we’re getting ready to pave the parking lot.”
While McCormack wasn’t able to pinpoint an exact grand-opening date, he said he hopes to make a formal announcement in the near future.
“I’m not really prepared to give anymore information at this time,” said McCormack. “We’re just not ready to make any announcements at this very moment.”
Beale’s opened its first taphouse and brewery in Bedford in June 2017. The brewery’s products can be found throughout Virginia and the greater Washington, DC area at various restaurants, bars, and retailers.
The York County location will have a 10-gallon brewhouse, and Beale’s staff members will be serving up locally-sourced seafood and American-fare cuisine. The Yorktown location is projected to provide ample indoor and outdoor seating, full-service bars indoors and out, and a pet-friendly patio. A rentable private dining room will also be available for parties and events.
