The Peninsula Chronicle doesn’t use ad networks like other websites, but we provide opportunities for local businesses to partner with us to sponsor news channels or categories.
Sponsors (okay, advertisers) may provide their own images – 400×600 pixels – which will be displayed on a minimum of 25 percent of our page views for a single month, though the actual percentage may be more.
The Chronicle offers local businesses the opportunity to sponsor specific pages and categories of posts. For now, we are standardizing on linked images that are one column wide, with dimensions of 400 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. We plan to have up to 4 different images for each sponsor location on our site, with each image randomly getting one fourth of the page impressions. Sponsors can reserve multiple one-fourth shares of a sponsor location (half, three quarters, or all), if available.
The number of visitors and page views has been growing steadily, as Peninsula residents hear about the Chronicle’s local coverage. More than 100,000 people visit the site each month (on both desktop and mobile devices), viewing about 250,000 pages (these numbers do not include bots). Some categories and pages are more popular than others, so we have set the prices for the sponsor locations accordingly.
Many articles will belong to multiple categories, e.g., a new restaurant may be in the Food & Beverage and New Business categories, and also appear on the page of the city or town that it is in. Every article has a primary category, and the sponsors for that category will have their images on post pages just for stories in that primary category.
While readers must pay for individual articles or subscriptions to read entire articles, all advertisement images are viewable to all viewers.
The ads will begin running on Aug. 15. Sponsors may provide their own images – 400×600 pixels – which will be displayed on a minimum of 25 percent of our page views for a single month, though the actual percentage may be more.
Political ads are not accepted, and all images will be subject to approval by Peninsula Chronicle.
