GLOUCESTER-A new art establishment is opening on Main Street in Gloucester. The news was shared in a social media post live on July 3.

Local artist Theresa Wells Stifel is opening York & Main, a showroom and store located at 6670 Main St.  An open house is set for this Friday, July 7, during Gloucester Courthouse’s First Friday event. The open house is scheduled for 4pm to 7pm.

York & Main will offer space for artists to share their artwork and will carry vintage items including fashion, jewelry, accessories, and home décor.

“We’ll have things that remind you of your childhood,” Stifel said in her social media post announcement.

For now, York & Main’s art gallery space will feature pieces by Stifel, who specializes in mixed media. Later this summer, she hopes to feature artwork from guest artists.

“While I have been happily painting in my home studio, I really missed my face to face interaction with my art patrons and design clients,” a post on York & Man’s webpage reads. “Finding this new location on Gloucester, Virginia’s main street is a dream come true. The space will be showroom in the front, online shop storage in the back. We are open by chance and by appointment and will host monthly events and pop ups featuring regional creatives.”

There will also be space at York & Main for classes and events.

York & Main will be open July 7 from 10am to 7pm, July 8 from 11am to 4pm, and July 9 from 10am to 2pm. For more information on the new business, visit its website or Facebook page.
