Starbucks To Build Store In Hayes Next To Chesapeake Bank

GLOUCESTER – Starbucks, the Seattle-based coffeehouse giant, bought almost four and a half acres of land from Chesapeake Bank in Hayes to build a store next to the bank.

The address is 3029 George Washington Memorial Highway, and it’s on the east side of the road, at the intersection with Powhatan Drive. There is also a Starbucks at the nearby Kroger supermarket.

The purchase price was $525,000. No other details, including a timeline for construction, were available. Numerous phone calls and emails to Starbucks officials were not returned.

New Starbucks establishments have popped up elsewhere on the Peninsula in recent months. Other Starbucks locations have opened or will be opening in Norge in James City County, in downtown Williamsburg, on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard in Newport News, and on the campus of Hampton University.
