WILLIAMSBURG-A Richmond-based natural hair salon for kids, Tiny Textures, is headed to Williamsburg’s Midtown Row mixed-used development, located at the corner of Richmond Road and Monticello Avenue.

The business recently leased 1,203 square feet of retail space in Midtown Row at 220 Monticello Ave. Owner and stylist Regina Holden said she anticipates opening the new location of Tiny Textures in spring of 2022.

Tiny Textures provides hair care services to children with all hair types. Services include cuts, blowouts, braiding, twisting, and other styling services. Holden began the company after meeting the mother of two adopted children from Haiti who had troubles styling their hair.

“She though she’d use styling as a way to bond with her adoptive daughters and instead this became a point of contention and greatly affected the girls’ confidence in their appearance,” Holden shared on her webpage.

Regina taught the mother how to care for her daughters’ natural hair and eventually decided to open her own business to help other families in need. Tiny Texture, which started out as a mobile service, opened its first salon on Stonebridge Plaza Avenue in Richmond in 2019. The Williamsburg salon will be its second location.
