WILLIAMSBURG-Colonial Williamsburg will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, December 17, at 10am for three new businesses that have recently opened in Merchants Square.
The three businesses are J. McLaughlin, a chain fashion retailer; FatFace, an apparel and accessories store based in the United Kingdom; and Penny and a Sixpence, a jewelry store specializing in Sterling Silver. The three new stores have opened on Duke of Gloucester Street in the space that once housed the Williams Sonoma kitchen gadget store.
“We are excited to be celebrating the opening of three new retail stores in Merchants Square, further positioning the area as a premiere shopping location for both Williamsburg locals and students, as well as visitors to the area,” said Keith Johnson, Director of Commercial and Residential Property at Colonial Williamsburg, in a press release.
Grace Beiderman, manager of J.McLaughlin, is also pleased to be moving into Merchants Square.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the Williamsburg community,” Beiderman said. “Our official opening date was targeted as November 19. We had a customer poke her head in on November 18 as we were setting up and absolutely loved our things as a regular customer, so we let her in to shop. We have loved meeting all our new customers and getting to meet those that had previously shopped online. Everyone loves the store and the ambience and how each store is decorated to reflect its local community.”
