NEWPORT NEWS—First there were rideshare services like Uber and Lyft. Next came food delivery services to help make meals more convenient. Now it’s laundry’s turn. SudShare is a national service that sends a “Sudster” to people’s home or office to pick up their dirty laundry, then delivers it back fresh and clean. And it’s available right here in Hampton Roads.
“Everybody is looking for gig economy jobs, right?” said Nichole Matthews, a Sudster based in Newport News. “I’m trying to start my regular business and go to college, so I needed something flexible. I looked into other local services and thought maybe I could do DoorDash or Uber, or something else like that, but none of those things seemed quite what I wanted to do. When I learned about SudShare, I thought, ‘Hey, I have a washer and dryer at home and my car doesn’t have to be a specific make or model,’ so I looked into it further.”
