York County Recipient Of Virginia Community Development Block Grant

YORK-York County is one of several jurisdictions across Virginia to be awarded recently a Community Development Block Grant from the commonwealth. Grant funding goes toward housing rehabilitation, water and sewer improvements, and community development projects.

More than $11.5 Million in Community Development Block Grant funding was handed down to assist with ten projects. Recipients were announced in a release on November 16.

York County received more than $1.3 million in funding for its Cary’s Chapel Road Housing Rehabilitation Project. The project will restore a dozen single-family homes and involve reconstruction of two homes and the demolition of another home. Once complete, the project will benefit 23 individuals with low to moderate incomes.
