JAMES CITY-The Food Lion grocery store chain recently recognized long-term associates for their service to the company. Among those honored were two employees who work out of the Food Lion stores in the Greater Williamsburg area.

On June 30, Food Lion announced that it honored roughly 300 employees who have been working for the grocer for 30 years or more. Locally, Jackie Blake and Marsha Westbrook, who work for Food Lion in Greater Williamsburg, were celebrated. Blake is a frozen/food dairy associate who has been a part of the Food Lion family for 30 years, while Westbrook, a produce sales manager, has been with the company for 35 years.

“Recognizing associates who have shared their gifts and talents with Food Lion and nourished their neighbors for decades is incredibly important to us,” said Food Lion President Meg Ham in a statement. “These dedicated associates have touched the lives of their fellow associates and customers alike. We are so fortunate to have such committed associates and I so appreciate the care, compassion, and commitment they share with Food Lion and the towns and cities they serve.”

Food Lion has many stores on the Peninsula including nearly half a dozen in the Williamsburg area.
