NORFOLK-Norfolk International Airport (ORF) reported a 6.9 percent increase in passenger traffic for the month of April 2023 with 373,734 passengers, representing the busiest April in the airport’s 85-year history. This is in comparison with 349,685 passengers in April 2022. The airport also experienced an 11.1 percent increase from January to April with 1,245,840 passengers traveling, compared to 1,121,407 for the same timeframe in 2022.
Things were busy on the cargo side as well, although those figures were down from last year’s numbers. This past April, 4,767,142 pounds of cargo were shipped in and out of the airport, which is an 11.7 percent decrease from the 5,398,080 pounds recorded in April 2022. For the period of January to April 2023, there were 19,920,681 pounds shipped, which is a 2.1 percent decrease from the 20,355,299 pounds recorded for the same timeframe last year.
