WILLIAMSBURG – Oscar Blayton’s family has owned a house at 745 Scotland St. for close to 75 years. But it’s been uninhabitable for a while.
Blayton, a lawyer, wants to demolish the house, which he says is both an eyesore and a danger, but Williamsburg City Council refused his request, citing the property’s inclusion in a proposed local historic district.
“It’s not historic,” Blayton said. “It’s a magnet for homeless people. We’ve had trouble with people breaking in. A grassy space would be better.”
