GLOUCESTER – A pair of new restaurants in Gloucester, one featuring Italian food and the other a deli, are opening on Tuesday, March 21.
Jack Bertuglia announced his newest restaurant, Fiorello Ristorante Italiano in the White Marsh Shopping Center, will be open for business starting with lunch March 21.
Hours will be 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 10pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays; and 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 11pm Fridays and Saturdays. It will be closed on Mondays.
Bertuglia said there will be a grand opening during Tuesday’s dinner hours. The restaurant’s address is 4938 George Washington Memorial Highway in the space formerly occupied by the Wild Horse Country Café and Malt Shoppe.
He has been in the restaurant business for many years, and formerly owned Pelican Cover in Mathews, Fiorello in Newport News, and Baci in Hampton. His specialty is Southern Italian cuisine.
Another veteran of the food industry business, Bryce Moretti, is opening Duke’s Deli on March 21 also. He also owns York River Oyster Company (YROC) at Gloucester Point.
His new venture is located at 6748 Fox Centre Parkway in Fox Mill Centre where Your Pie Pizza used to be. Among its specialties is a poke (pronounced POH-keh) bar. Poke is diced raw fish served either as an appetizer or a main course. It is popular at YROC. The deli also will serve craft beers on draft and cocktails.
Hours for now are 10am to 8pm Sunday through Thursday, and 10am to 11pm Friday and Saturday. They are subject to change depending on demand.
