WILLIAMSBURG – After months of fine-tuning a plan, the Williamsburg City Council appears poised to approve an ordinance at its meeting on December 8 that will allow up to three hotel/motel owners to convert their properties to as many as 250 apartments for income-eligible tenants.
Property owners would have to apply for special use permits to adapt hotel or motel rooms into permanent living quarters. Seventy-five percent of the units would be studio apartments; the other 25 percent could be one- or two-bedroom units.
