NEWPORT NEWS-Newport News Mayor McKinley L. Price delivered the 2022 State of the City Address on Wednesday, November 16, at the Ferguson Center located on the campus of Christopher Newport University. It was his final address as mayor.
Price spoke to an audience of more than 700 people, which included members of Newport News City Council as well as other regional leaders and politicians. It was the first public State of the City Address held publicly since 2019 due to pandemic restraints.
Price was elected as the city’s first African American mayor in 2010. He also works as a dentist in the town he’s called home for the duration of his life. He will officially leave his position when his term ends on December 31.
