GLOUCESTER – Soon after Tanya Deckard was named the director of transportation for Gloucester County Public Schools in 2019, she noticed a disturbing trend.
There had been an increase in the number of drivers illegally passing stopped school buses. Close calls as students were crossing travel lanes getting on and off buses were becoming for frequent and more dangerous.
“We had a near miss right after I came on board,” she said.
