NEWPORT NEWS-Jefferson Commons has landed a new tenant.
The retail store pOpshelf is in the process of moving into 12551 Jefferson Ave., Suite 151, next to Buff City Soap. The prime shopping location will be the new retail chain’s first location in Virginia.
“We do not have a confirmed opening date as we await our construction progress, but currently plan to open in the coming weeks,” said Emma Hall, public relations coordinator with pOpshelf, in an emailed statement.
Hall said the new store aims to engage customers with a fun, affordable, and stress-free shopping experience where shoppers can find on-trend seasonal and home décor, health and beauty must-haves, home cleaning supplies, party goods, entertaining needs, and more. The majority of items offered are reasonably priced at $5 or less.
The store in Jefferson Commons is expected to create up to 15 new jobs and employ team members who are passionate about helping customers enjoy their shopping experience.
The retail chain introduced its differentiated retail store in the Nashville, TN market in fall 2020 and currently operates approximately 60 locations and 25 store-within-a-store locations that combine pOpshelf and DGMarket offerings.
Currently, pOpshelf plans to open 100 additional stores within the year and hopes to operate up to approximately 1,000 total stores by its 2025 fiscal year-end.
“At pOpshelf, team members will have the opportunity to join an invigorating retail environment that brings to life the new brand’s mission of making shopping exciting and fun for everyday purchases and unique finds,” said Hall.
Candidates interested in joining the pOpshelf team may review and apply for positions on the store’s website, or text JOBS to 38228 for a link to pOpshelf’s careers page.
