Edmarc, a Portsmouth-based non-profit organization that provides services to terminally ill children and their families on the Southside as well as the Peninsula, is expanding its operations and will soon open an office in Greater Williamsburg. Edmarc made the announcement on July 6.
Edmarc, which has been serving the region for more than 40 years, has received a $2 million grant from the state to assist with the expansion. In addition, it has raised 89 percent of its $2 million goal for its “The Next Chapter” capital campaign.
Edmarc provides support for expecting parents whose child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness before birth through its perinatal support program. In addition, it offers in-home care for children from infancy through the age of 18 through its clinical program. The organization offers nursing, social and volunteer support, and bereavement services to families.
