WILLIAMSBURG-Creative Cuisines, a catering business on Garrison Drive in Williamsburg, is partnering with Chef Hans Schadler on a new monthly wine dinner series.
Noreen Graziano, owner of Creative Cuisines, first approached Schadler about the idea of collaborating after he parted ways with the restaurant he owned, Waypoint Seafood & Grille, in the spring of 2021. The first wine dinner series was held in November 2021.
“I saw an opportunity and I reached out to Hans,” Graziano said. “He’s been a great mentor.”
January’s wine dinner, which will be held on Friday, January 28, will be a Swirl & Sip event featuring rustic French culinary dishes from Schadler and Creative Cuisines Chef Jacob Buchhas Newman. February’s event, which will be two dinners timed for Valentine’s Day, is already sold out.
“The response has been overwhelming,” Graziano said. “Each month, we have a different theme, and we have our themes planned out now through June. Our dinners allow people to taste different foods and wines, and our wines are also available for purchase. We have a lot of unique wines that you don’t find in the grocery store. Our customers are looking for something different.”
Graziano spent more than two decades working at the former Trellis restaurant in Merchants Square, where she headed up the establishment’s award-winning wine program for roughly 18 years. She also worked for Colonial Williamsburg and at Café Provencal at the Williamsburg Winery.
“Wine is something I’m very passionate about,” Graziano said.
Graziano purchased Creative Cuisines in February 2020, a month before former Virginia governor Ralph Northam shut businesses down amid the coronavirus pandemic. Graziano quickly switched to curbside pickup service and was able to survive the early stages of the pandemic thanks to support from the local community. Business has since bounced back.
“We are a very niche caterer with a focus on fine dining and customer service,” she said.
Creative Cuisines offers catering services both on and off premises. The business, located at 1300 Garrison Dr., can accommodate up to 50 people for a variety of celebrations including baby showers, graduations, birthday parties, and other occasions. Graziano hopes to also begin offering lunch at the establishment two days a week with a limited menu starting in March.
