YORK-The York County Arts Commission is inviting residents and organizations to apply for arts grants that will benefit the county.

Individuals and groups who submit a grant application for a project must abide by the following criteria in order to be eligible: must be a non-profit; must produce, present or support dance, literary arts, media arts, music, theatre, museums, or visual and related arts; must perform or offer programming in York County, or in the Williamsburg and James City areas that also serve citizens of York; performances, projects, or services are accessible to those with disabilities and the public at large; and grant money must not be used for capital investment or operating expenses.

In addition, The York County Arts Commission will also offer a challenge grant up to $500 to promote citizen awareness of local and regional arts groups by showcasing their talents at various sites within the county. Deadline to apply for a grant is Tuesday, March 1 at 4pm. Applications are available online at www.yorkcounty.gov/arts. For more information, please contact Minnie Sippio, Arts Commission liaison, at (757) 890-4102 or email sippiom@yorkcounty.gov.
