Several Williamsburg Area Dining Establishments Listed For Sale

This story has been updated to reflect the fact that The Sportsmans Grille is in York County, not James City County. Additionally, the owner of The Sportsmans Grille is selling the business in preparation for retirement.

WILLIAMSBURG-Several food and beverage businesses are currently on the market in the Greater Williamsburg area.

In the City of Williamsburg, Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard on Monticello Avenue in Midtown Row is listed for sale. Rita’s, which first opened in 2009, is a seasonal establishment that typically operates March through September. Asking price for the business is $215,000. The owners of Rita’s Italian Ice declined to comment to Peninsula Chronicle on the sale. Rita’s is located at 220D Monticello Ave.

Also in Midtown Row, Bonanza Social Kitchen & Espresso near Rita’s Italian Ice is on the market for $395,000. The restaurant, which opened in 2019, features a coffee station and bar and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The owners of Bonanza did not respond to messages from Peninsula Chronicle seeking comment about the sale. Bonanza Social Kitchen & Espresso is located at 200 Monticello Ave., Unit B.

In York County, the coffee brewer King of Clubs Brewing Company is for sale. Asking price is $350,000 and includes the rights to operate its sister business, Joker Brewing, one of Virginia’s first hard kombucha breweries. Both businesses currently operate in a 2,300 square foot production space and taproom located at 113 Palace Lane, Unit D. The sale also includes production equipment. The owner of King of Clubs Brewing, who is planning to leave the Williamsburg area, did not return messages seeking comment on the sale.

In York County, The Sportsmans Grille on McLaws Circle is for sale. The business has been open since 1998. Sportsmans Grille is listed for $595,000, which also includes all furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The restaurant, located at 240 McLaws Circle, was recently renovated. The owner of The Sportsmans Grille is planning to retire after 45 years in the industry.

All of the businesses are currently listed for sale on as of Tuesday, December 21.
