NEWPORT NEWS—The City of Newport News is continuing the process of updating the Hilton Area Neighborhood Plan. The planning process will identify the area’s successes and opportunities for improvement, including potential redevelopment opportunities and amenities/projects that encourage neighborhood and commercial stabilization. If adopted, the Greater Hilton Area Plan will serve as an amendment to the One City, One Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
The proposed boundary area of the Greater Hilton Area Plan is larger than the original Hilton Area Neighborhood Plan boundary. It will be bound by J. Clyde Morris Boulevard to the north, CSX railroad tracks on the east, New Market Creek to the south, and the James River to the west.
As part of the process, the city’s Planning Department is engaging with business owners and operators within the Greater Hilton Area Plan boundary area. Planners are hosting focus groups to solicit feedback and ideas that will help inform the goals and recommendations in the Greater Hilton Area Plan. Anyone interested in participating, please contact Tolu Ibikunle at 757-926-7686 or ibikunleto@nnva.gov by Friday, Dec. 3.
All are invited to learn more about the Greater Hilton Area Plan and become part of the process. Visit the Plan’s webpage for details on the plan.
