A free 12-week culinary program offered through the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank will help economically disadvantaged adults gain culinary skills, jobs, and self-reliance. The program also benefits the food support for Kids Café and Summer Feeding programs, thus providing trainees an opportunity to give back to their community.
Trainees will learn basic culinary skills, resume development, time management, teamwork, leadership, decision-making skills, goal setting, conflict resolution, and more to help them succeed. Intensive classroom and hands-on training in the kitchen will take place all the while earning a ServSafe Manager Certification.
This free program operates Monday through Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and must apply before the December 3 deadline. To learn more and to apply contact Jacquelyn Linder at 757-596-7188 or visit the Culinary Training Program website.
