Avalon Center Awarded $475,000 Transitional Housing Grant

Avalon Center was recently awarded a three-year $475,000 Transitional Housing Grant by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Office of Violence Against Women. The non-profit organization was one of 68 projects in the United States to receive the award.

The “Next Step” project will arrange community-based transitional housing for survivors of domestic or sexual violence, dating violence, or stalking. The housing support will be accessible for a minimum of six months and up to two years for survivors living in the greater Williamsburg and Middle Peninsula communities.

Virginia Career Works is partnering with Avalon Center to connect survivors with employment coaching and job training opportunities.
