WILLIAMSBURG – The website PremiumSchools.org has designated the College of William & Mary as one of the 25 Happiest Colleges for 2021-22.
The website based the results on how happy students are socially, academically, and personally. It took into account how each college helps its students in numerous areas, including class size, time management, mental health, and funding. Also considered were campus surroundings, activities, and student satisfaction. The website’s editors looked at a wide range of rankings and lists from well-respected academic journals and resources.

William & Mary specifically was cited for the Martha Wren Briggs Amphitheatre, Lake Matoaka, and College Woods. Also mentioned were the Earl Gregg Swem Library, which offers more than 2 million books, films, and e-resources; and the Muscarelle Museum of Art, which has more than 60,000 pieces of art, ranging from paintings to sculptures and more.

The website also noted how college officials realize the need for social activities. They kick off the academic year by welcoming the freshman class with a picnic featuring live music. There’s also Yule Log, a winter celebration with live holiday music, a book reading, and hot cider and sugar cookies.

On-campus food choices are varied. Students have access to all-you-can-eat dining halls, specialty coffee houses, a bakeshop, a food court, and numerous national franchises.

Virginia Tech was the only other state school on the list. Learn more about the rankings and criteria at https://www.premiumschools.org/rankings/#the-top-25-happiest-colleges.
