HAMPTON-The Beauty Bar by Chelly Jae is an upscale beauty salon that specializes in body contouring and esthetics. Owner Mychell Brewington held a formal grand opening October 3 at her new storefront located in downtown Hampton.

Home to several local beauty experts, the salon offers body contouring services, waxing services, skincare services, eyelash extensions, makeup, permanent makeup, and several professional certification courses. “I wanted to create an inclusive and welcoming environment to provide my services while networking with other like-minded individuals to improve the confidence of our clients,” said Brewington.

Brewington moved to the area from Maryland several years ago to attend Old Dominion University. “I used to be a personal trainer when I was in college and worked out every day,” said Brewington. “Even then, when I was in the best shape of my life, I still had specific problem areas.” She said that body contouring offers non-invasive choices for clients to address specific areas of concern.

In addition to body contouring, she’s also certified in wood therapy, hyaluron injections, and post-operative cosmetic care. Currently studying esthetics, she’ll add that to her repertoire after she sits for her licensure exam this winter.

Brewington said her business has been bustling and attributes the prime location with acquiring new customers on a frequent basis. “There are a lot of businesses opening up in downtown Hampton, so we get a lot of street traffic and foot traffic,” said Brewington. “It’s been great. Hampton has really welcomed and embraced me.”

The Beauty Bar by Chelly Jae is located at 10 West Queens Way. Hours of operation are from 10am to 6pm Monday through Sunday. For more information on services or to schedule a consultation, please click here.
