JAMES CITY-Repaving of the driveway and entrance to Jamestown Beach Event Park on Jamestown Road will begin soon.
At its September 28 meeting, the James City Board of Supervisors approved the paving project, will cost roughly $118,000 and begin later this fall.
Jamestown Beach Event Park is one of the most utilized parks in the county. People frequent the park for swimming and sunbathing at the beach along the James River, to kayak or standup paddleboard, or to attend concerts and other events. The driveway and entrance have been in disrepair for quite some time.
The paving project will offer “a better experience and a better presentation of a county park that gets a tremendous amount of use from our residents and others,” James City County Administrator Scott Stevens told listeners during the county’s monthly podcast on October 5.
