Tax-Free Weekend Scheduled For August 6-8

VIRGINIA – Virginia’s annual Sales Tax-Free weekend will run Friday, Aug. 6 through Sunday, August 8. During the event, there will be no sales tax on qualified school supplies under $20.00 per item as well as any clothing and footwear under $100.00 per item.

Other sales tax savings include hurricane and emergency preparedness products such as portable generators at $1,000 or less per item;  gas-powered chainsaws at $350 or less per item; chainsaw accessories; and other specified hurricane preparedness items at $60.00 or less.

Energy Star ™ and WaterSense ™ products are also free from sales tax when purchased for noncommercial home or person use for $2500.00 or less per item.
