Owner and Chef Hans Schadler Leaving Waypoint Seafood & Grill

JAMES CITY-Hans Schadler, owner and executive chef of Waypoint Seafood & Grill, is leaving the fine dining restaurant.

Schadler made the announcement on Tuesday, May 25, in a letter to patrons, and on social media. The letter stated that Schadler, along with his daughter, Tina Schadler-Phillips, will both be leaving the establishment after ten years.

“We, Chef Hans Schadler and Tina Schadler-Phillips, will be moving on from Waypoint Seafood & Grill this month and leaving the restaurant in the hands of one of our former partners,” the letter read. “It was a joy to create this landmark Williamsburg restaurant. Our hope is that you will stay tuned as we navigate what lies ahead. It has been our sincere pleasure serving you, and we look forward to doing it again soon.”

Schadler, a native of Germany, is a world-renowned chef with decades of culinary experience. Before opening Waypoint Seafood & Grill in 2011, he spent two decades as the executive chef and culinary director of the Colonial Williamsburg resorts, overseeing many of its restaurants including the Williamsburg Inn. He helped coordinate all of the meal functions during the Queen of England’s visit to the Williamsburg Inn in 2007.
