JAMES CITY-Jamestown Settlement will honor the anniversary of the founding of the country’s first permanent English colony with a Jamestown Day celebration on Saturday, May 8.
Jamestown Day will feature various family-friendly activities and programs including interpretive programs, military salutes, and maritime demonstrations as well as special activities for Indigenous Arts Day.
To coincide with Jamestown Settlement’s exhibit “FOCUSED: A Century of Virginia Indian Resilience,” which runs through March 25, 2022, the museum will also host Indigenous Arts Day to commemorate native culture. The event will include outdoor demonstrations of music, dance, and art. Those scheduled to perform during the special event include Red Crooked Sky American Indian Dance Troupe, Stoney Creek Singers and award-winning hoop dancer Meredith Schramm (Omaha), and along flutist Nathan Elliott (Nottoway).
