NEWPORT NEWS-The 2021 Start Peninsula announced its latest round of finalists in its online Micro Pitch Competition.
The three finalists named are EWedded, an e-commerce platform for brands and businesses in the wedding industry creating increased business opportunities and sustainable practices for wedding gowns; eZverifi, the first consumer device verification service allowing consumer protection from other consumers through identify verification; and Spellcross, a mobile app that allows for augmented reality dueling between players utilizing spellcasting and wizardry as the primary themes.
In all, nine potential new businesses participated in the latest micro pitch competition, which was held April 21. Each finalist received a $500 prize and will advance to Start Peninsula’s Main Pitch Event in November.
In March, Clean Air System Smart Intelligent Environment (CASSIE), Green Light, and Pocket Properties App, were announced as finalists in Start Peninsula’s first Micro Pitch Competition of the year.
Start Peninsula builds entrepreneurship on the Peninsula by helping start or create new businesses. Ideas and concepts are pitched during the early stages of development of a business and Start Peninsula connects those with a product or service to business leaders and mentors.
Newport News is hosting this year’s rounds of micro pitch competitions. The next competition is scheduled for September 15 while the final micro pitch competition is planned for October 6. The Main Pitch Event will then be held on November 3.
